TWILIGHT...in the middle of the day!

Suzi and I went to see TWILIGHT at the noon showing along with 22 other people in Lodi. I guess all the die-hards (like Megan and friends) were in line for hours to see the midnight show or like Emma with her group that were in line right after school on Friday. After Jana had to twist my arm to even read the book, (which I ended up enjoying like a teenager in love) I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the movie a whole lot!! Emma said, "Mom, I could hardly breathe after the movie was over I loved it so much!" Now I guess I've got to get busy with book #2 before the next movie comes out!

Running Humor....
My two great friends and running partners, Penny Lawley and Susanna LaViola weren't able to run the 1/2 marathon with me and Penny was ticked that I was even considering running it without HER! So, to just rub it in a little, I showed up this morning with my slick race t-shirt and I even wore my medal. But, to try and one up me, she was wearing a Boston Marathon t-shirt!!! Susanna's husband ran it in 2005 so they both were in on the joke. Had a good laugh and a good run!

Run the River

My mom's a stud. What can I say? She ran a 1/2 marathon along the American River in 2 hours 15 minutes! Wooo hoo!

Southern Utah in the Fall

We took our first trip to southern Utah following our General Conference weekend with the Utah kids. It was breathtaking so say the least. Megan and Emma were terrific hikers and the photo-opportunities were simply amazing. The big hike was Angel's Landing which only Corey and Megan made all the way to the top! There were parts of the hike where there was not much ground to walk on and sheer drop offs on both sides....only a chain to hold on to! Never thought I was afraid of heights until that day. Megan was hiking in front of me and didn't think it was really necessary to hold on the whole time....I lost it right then and there. Couldn't proceed to the top and Emma agreed to come down the mountain with me. Then I just prayed for the next hour and a half that Corey and Megan wouldn't die. I was so relieved when I saw them scaling back down the mountain side. Great memories!

Night-before-nerves...

O.K. It's the night before my first (and probably last) half marathon race. It's called Run the River along the American River parkway in Sacramento. I'm planning a big-carb dinner of Ravioli and french bread. I'm just hoping to finish....run to complete not compete is my motto! It's been a goal of mine for awhile and I've been training (sort-of) for the last couple of months.

Schaffer Sisters in Asland, Oregon

My sister Laurie and I took a roadtrip to Ashland Oregon for a "sisters weekend" to see our sister Susan and enjoyed the beautiful Fall colors

When they called for the crown, Corey thought they said CLOWN ......

Homecoming 2008

Megan becomes the third Brink sister on Homecoming Court at Tokay High School!  She looked absolutely stunning and enjoyed the spotlight for a few days.  They announced the queen at the rally the night before the football game, and she was part of the parade and half time activites the next day.....pressure is ON for Emma!

Yes, a Brink takes 1st place in the P.U.M.P. 10k race at Oak Grove Park....I'm sure you think it was probably Cindy with her long legs and lightning speed. But actually it was Megan finishing with a time of 1 hour and 4 seconds!!! Not bad seeing that the night before was Homecoming and she got very little sleep.
